The holidays are upon us and we thought we would give you an update on the counterfeit / fake issues we’re facing.
The market is being flooded with counterfeit Salux cloths that are very inferior to the real cloth. The bulk of these counterfeits are coming out of China and some from Korea. Alibaba and its retail arm Aliexpress are the largest violators. These fake cloths are making their way to unsuspecting customers via Amazon, eBay and other online retailers. Below are some samples of the counterfeits, how their being promoted along with where they were found. We’ll start with a picture of the most common counterfeit package along with a picture of the authentic Salux package.
At first glance they’re similar. Compare the picture of the girl on the packages and you’ll see the difference in quality and clarity. The tabs on the real salux have “Made In Japan” on the front. The white counterfeit has the #100 on it which should be #200 although some old ones are printed #100. The blue, pink and yellow are #100″s the pastel colors are #300’s. Also notice the distance from the bottom of the girl in the circle to the bottom of the package. These are the most obvious signs. There are several other ways (quality of seams, weave, thread, harshness of fabric) to confirm the fakes but that would come after you bought the cloth. **Note: They have duplicated the FTC tags on the inside along with all the SKU – EAN numbers and the patent numbers on the back of the package. So when they show you a picture of a Salux tag it no longer means a thing. There is no doubt in our minds that they’ll soon make changes to their packaging to more closely match the authentic pkg. We’ve started doing test buys of the online sellers to find the bad ones and deal with them.

So be careful out there no matter what you’re buying or who you are buying it from. We’ll be updating this more often to help the Salux lovers and future Salux lovers avoid this problem.
